Birthdays

February is a birthday month around our house. My oldest son and I have birthdays close together with Valentine's Day in the middle. Add these events to the arrival of all the Girl Scout cookies we ordered and you have a recipe for Sugar Central. I was doing my part by making this cake for my son who is really into Star Wars Clone Wars. I hope that one day he realizes how much I love him by all the ridiculous names I have had to learn. Asajj Ventress, Count Dooku, Ahsoka Tano, what in the world? You know George Lucas' employees are dying laughing as they make up this stuff. This doesn't even cover all the Justice League superheroes and Ben 10 aliens I know. I was in Target the other day and got excited when I saw the Justice League figure Vigilante because he is pretty rare. What have I become? A mother of two boys, to be sure. It is not that much easier with girls, though. My daughter is now starting to get into all that American Girl stuff and I am having to learn their names, the years they lived and who their best friend is. I have rented a couple of these movies and watched them with her and there is always a best friend. They don't like each other at first but by the end they are inseparable and living in the same house as sisters. Some actress who used to play the leading lady in movies I watched growing up is always the mom. Molly Ringwald, Julia Ormond, etc. I guess since I am the mom now they can be too.

We had so much fun this past weekend in Florida. We met tons of FSU students and got to reconnect with ones I had met before at a previous show. I love getting to spend time with people in that phase of life figuring out who they are and who they want to be. Thanks to everyone there for their hospitality and I am looking forward to Wisconsin and Washington in the upcoming weeks.

I am not going to keep boring you guys with running stuff, but I do have to mention I am running my second 5K tomorrow. It is sponsored by our hockey team, The Nashville Predators, so they are calling it the Fangtastic 5K. What is with these names? I will post an update for those of you (OK, that one person) who cares. Just typing this is holding me accountable so I actually show up tomorrow morning!

Jill,
Believe me your boys WILL appreciate you one day. What a cool Mom!! I wish my own mother took the time to be involve in my Star Wars world when it was just Luke, Han, and R2D2.
I too am into in Clone Wars and the cake is super hip, Jill - good job.

I happen to be 28 years old and enjoy the Clone Wars as it harkens back to that Saturday morning fun I had back in the '80's, not to mention I've always loved Star Wars in its various forms. Nice birthday cake.

Also, your latest album is absolutely wonderful and it gets regularly listened to along with AP's Resurrection Letters. And while you may not get much radio time if any, I see to it that some of your songs are heard over the loud speaker here at the camp I work at. I'm sure a couple of your new songs will find their way into the mix this summer. Keep up the good work!

Happy belated birthday!!

I get your newsletter in my inbox and I found out you have a blog and appreciate comments. I am an avid commenter. *nods*

All of this name memorization will prep you for helping your kids study for tests and do their homework in the future. Before you know it, you'll be learning algebra and the de-construction and reconstruction of sentences. Haha.

Blessed to be a blessing...
