Your Usual Response

Track #:
1

I don’t know why you made me the way you did
With a desire to connect then to sever the ties again
Looking through an eight foot tinted glass perimeter fence
It seems the grass is always greener

I can’t explain how weak my conviction is
How I can make up my mind but it won’t make a difference
It’s like I am allergic to solutions that would make any sense
Just a moth around a fire

But You’re reaching out your arms of forgiveness
Its your usual response I’m afraid
After all the things I’ve done you love me anyways

I can’t figure out how to make the distractions stop
So your whispers of truth won’t get lost in the chaos
My sense of self importance is inflated and its going to pop
Like a helium balloon

But You’re reaching out your arms of forgiveness
Its your usual response I’m afraid
After all the things I’ve done you love me anyways

I keep running away

But You’re reaching out your arms of forgiveness
Its your usual response I’m afraid
After all the things I’ve done you love me anyways

I'm interested in singing some of your songs at my church. Do you have accompaniment tracks available?

Jill,

I have been listening to your music for years since a friend introduced me to it in Estes Park. Listening to Writing on the Wall is now ingrained in my memory of the Rocky Mountains - a very high spiritual moment! I am so encouraged by your music, not only its rich melodic composition, but your lyrical sensitivity. You so accurately capture the genuine struggle of the the believer to be in both worlds and avoid sugar coating the Christian life. You help me to feel normal - like it's okay to be an intelligent person and a Christian. I share your music with people I love and feel like I am sharing the gospel again.

So thank you for enduring the struggle and continuing to testify to the comforting realities of Christ's companionship in our lives. My family and I look forward to knowing you and worshiping our Lord together someday!! Can I play backup for you?

Lovingly in Christ,

Karl

This is a seriously great song.
